ABOUT THE POSITION

Lingotion researches and develops generative AI where it is most exciting - by creating experiences that are impossible to achieve manually. Acting plays a central role in game development, from portraying characters in large open-world RPGs to commentators in sports games. Today, the major limitation is that players can only experience what has been recorded in a studio during production. We are now making it possible to generate acting based on dynamic scripts that change depending on what happens in the game. Our focus is solely on generating the acting, while the generation of dynamic scripts is something determined and driven by the game development studio.

What makes Lingotion unique is our ethical and legally secure approach to AI-generated acting. Our proprietary foundation models are trained only on actor data where we have agreements directly with the actors. From the actors' perspective, we act as an agent for their digital selves: they receive royalties on their training data, and we protect their artistic rights. To generate the acting in real-time, inference must run directly inside the game engine on the device, as cloud solutions are too expensive. At the same time, real-time critical components such as graphics rendering must not be negatively affected. Performance requirements are extreme and place unique demands on our AI architecture.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Tasks

Lingotion is a small startup in Lund with seven people, where you will work closely with both current developers and the founder. The focus is on the entire AI production chain, from data collection to integration into game engines and gaming platforms. The work encompasses all parts of the development and production process: we collect our own training data from actors, research entirely new AI architectures, train the models, and integrate them into game engines while maintaining real-time properties for graphics rendering. Our research and development are already far ahead of both well-known public research and other commercial actors in the field.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU WHO

We are looking for a senior AI researcher with solid knowledge of computer architecture. Seniority primarily lies in coding and debugging, as AI is a relatively new and rapidly evolving field. At the same time, experience in developing, experimenting with, and applying proprietary AI models is required, either in commercial projects or on your own initiative.

• Have documented experience in solving complex technical problems.
• Possess a deep understanding of computer architecture and real-time systems.
• Have extensive experience in performance optimization and multithreaded/parallel programming.
• Have studied mathematics at the university level, for example as an engineer or through independent courses in mathematics.
• Have at least two years of practical experience in AI development, where you have built or modified your own models (not fine-tuning models or using AI services via APIs).
• Have extensive programming experience, acquired through professional work and/or personal projects.

To succeed in this role, you need to be driven by an almost obsessive passion for complex problem-solving. You do not let go of a problem until it is solved, even if it requires work outside office hours to follow a lead or an AI training. Your strength lies in your technical integrity and humility. You have a realistic view of complexity, constantly questioning your own solutions, and let your actual delivery define your competence.
